How Positions Work

Positions within the Because app are critical for ensuring that your campaigns appear in the right places across your site. The Position feature allows you to determine where each campaign will be dis

Automatic Positions

The app attempts to automatically detect and assign Positions for certain content types out of the box. These automatic positions are:

  • Top Bar: Positioned above or below the Navigation Bar.

  • Product Page: Positioned above or below the Add to Cart button.

  • Badges: Positioned inside the product tile on your Collection Page.

These Automatic Positions are preset and will be the Default Positions for their respective content or page types. However, if these automatic positions don’t work as expected on your site, you can use the “Find Position” tool to adjust them or to find new ones for different parts of your site.

Manual Positions

For content and page types that do not have an Automatic Position, you will need to manually set them using the “Find Position” tool. This includes:

  • Replace Image on Product Page

  • Replace Image on Home Page

  • Replace Image on Collection Page

  • Banner on Cart

  • Text Element on Cart

It’s important to set a Default Position for each content and page type to streamline the creation of new campaigns. Without a Default Position, you will need to assign positions manually for each campaign, which can be time-consuming.

Managing Positions

To ensure a seamless experience while managing Positions, the following guidelines are recommended:

  • Default Positions: Always set a Default Position for all content types. This ensures that new campaigns will automatically adopt the correct position, reducing the need for manual adjustments.

  • Editing Default Positions: If you edit an existing Default Position, it will update across all campaigns using that position. This feature ensures consistency across your site.

  • Adding New Default Positions: When adding a new Position as a default, ensure that there is only one Default Position per content type to avoid conflicts.

  • Non-Automatic Positions: For content types without Automatic Positions, these will remain without a default until you manually add one. This gives you full control over where your content appears.

  • Automatic Position Failures: If the automatic position doesn’t work on your site, you can edit it or set a different position as the default and delete the automatic position if necessary.

Deleting Positions

When managing your Positions, it’s important to be cautious about deletion:

  • Deleting Non-Default Positions: If you attempt to delete a non-default position, the app will warn you to prevent accidental removals.

  • Default Position Reassignment: If you delete a Position currently used in a campaign, the campaign will be reassigned to the Default Position to ensure continued functionality.

  • Automatic Default Assignment: Any position you add to campaigns without an Automatic Position will automatically become the default for that content type, streamlining future campaign creation.

Conclusion

Positions are a powerful feature in the Because app, allowing you to control where and how your campaigns are displayed. By understanding and utilizing both Automatic and Manual Positions, you can ensure that your campaigns are consistently positioned across your site, providing a seamless experience for your visitors.
