# How to Preview a Campaign

The Preview function in Because allows you to see how your campaign will visually appear on your website.

It’s a powerful tool to fine-tune the design and placement of your campaigns before they go live. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to use this feature effectively.

### **How to Access the Preview Function**

1. **Open Your Campaign Editor**
   * Navigate to the campaign you want to edit within the Because app.<br>
2. **Click “Preview Campaign”**
   * In the bottom-right corner of the editor, you’ll see the option to “Preview Campaign.” Click it to open the preview experience.

### **What the Preview Function Does**

* **Visual Display Only**:

  The Preview function focuses on how the campaign looks on your website. It does **not** check if the rules (e.g., product rules or cart rules) are passing.

  * Example: If your campaign is set to display only on shirts but you paste a pants page URL, the campaign will still appear in the preview.
* **Cloned Version of Your Site**:

  The preview operates on a cloned version of your live website, so any live campaigns currently running will still display alongside your previewed campaign.

### **Steps to Preview Your Campaign**

1. **Paste the URL of Your Target Page**
   * Copy the URL of the page where you want to test your campaign (e.g., a product page).
   * Paste it into the field in the Preview tool and click “Preview Campaign.”<br>
2. **View the Preview**
   * In the editor, locate the **Preview Campaign** button in the bottom right corner.
   * Enter the URL of the page where you want to preview your campaign and click **Preview Campaign**.
   * The Preview will load the campaign on the specified page, regardless of any rules you’ve set for the campaign. In this mode, your campaign will **override its rules** and force itself to display on the page you entered.

     This allows you to focus on perfecting the **visual design** of your campaign without worrying about rule conditions. Keep in mind that this is only a display preview—it doesn’t confirm if the campaign will show under your defined rule conditions.<br>
3. **Make Design Changes in Real-Time**
   * Go back to the editor and adjust elements like background color, font size, or placement.
   * Save your changes, then refresh the preview tab to see the updates instantly.<br>
4. **Adjust Campaign Placement**
   * Use the “Position” section in the editor to move your campaign to different parts of the page (e.g., below the “Add to Cart” button).
   * Save and refresh the preview to see the updated placement.<br>
5. **Check Advanced Options**
   * For campaigns that overlap visually, use the “Campaign Order” feature in the advanced settings to adjust the display hierarchy.

### **Best Practices for Using Preview**

* **Choose Relevant Pages**:

  Use a URL for the type of page your campaign is targeting (e.g., the product page for a specific item if that’s where the campaign will run).
* **Team Collaboration**:

  Share the preview URL with team members for feedback. The link updates every time changes are saved, so your team can refresh the page to see the latest design.
* **Quick Gut Checks**:

  Use the preview to assess how multiple campaigns will look together and ensure the visual flow of your site isn’t disrupted.

### **What the Preview Doesn’t Do**

* **Rule Testing**:

  While the Preview function does not verify if the rules you’ve set (e.g., cart or product conditions) are passing, you can test your rules using the **Check Your Rules** tool. This ensures your campaign displays under the correct conditions on the right pages.
